Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) - Right after the Bills wrapped up this week of OTA’s, they signed their first round pick. Tre White was the 27th overall pick in this April’s draft. White said, “Right now, it hasn’t hit home yet, but I know my life has changed, I’m able to do some things for my mom that a normal guy wouldn’t be able to do and I’m very proud of myself.”

As far as what he wants to give back to his family the cornerback said, “My mom has been renting homes my whole life. She’s never once had a mortgage or pay to buy, it was always rent, so I owe it to her for all the sacrifices she’s made.”

“I never for once thought about a contract or it’s not done or holding out. My job is to focus on football. I see guys when contracts are not done, they holdout, but I’m a guy all about competing and I feel my calling here is to play football and earn the right to play.”

This has been a brand new experience for White and the rest of the rookies. He said, “The first day when I got into the first group, it was like a blur like flash, but now after I got a couple of reps, I feel like I’m comfortable and I know what I’m doing now, I know where my help is, so if I continue on that road, it’ll make my job so much easier.”

Zay Jones was supposed to join Nate Peterman at the NFL rookie premiere, but he sprained his knee in practice and is listed as week to week.

Eric Wood and Charles Clay were given rest days. Watching injured were Sammy Watkins, Kolby Listenbee, Cyrus Kouandjio, Annen Blake, Cordy Glenn and Jordan Johnson. I was hoping to be able to talk to Watkins, but he refused as he walked off the field.

Mike Tolbert was not on the field.

Practice was livened up by two fights. Shaq Lawson threw down with Jordan Mills while Max Vailes went after Keith Towbridge.

The first team defense was Lawson, Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus and Jerry Hughes up front. The linebackers were Lorenzo Alexander and Preston Brown. The corners were Kevon Seymour, Ron Darby and Leonard Johnson. The safeties were Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde.

On offense, rookie Dion Dawkins started at left tackle for the injured Glenn.
