Benoit Pouliot's ninth goal of the season came midway through the first period. Buffalo leads the Columbus Blue Jackets 1-0, check back throughout the game for updates.

First Period

15:29 - Tonight is another night where Buffalo has come out with some aggressive play, taking the action to the opponent. We have seen this several times this year, however, and many of them resulted in the opposition still getting the game's first goal. We'll see how this plays out and if it is the Sabres or Columbus that eventually strikes first.

11:10 - Both teams have traded chances in the last minute or so. After Artemi Panarin wrapped a back hand shot off of the goal post at one end, Evan Rodrigues took a shot just wide of the net. Either play probably should have resulted in a goal. Still scoreless in the first frame, however.

8:57 - Tonight's game has had a really good pace to it so far. Buffalo has had the better of the play, possessing the puck more, but it is close. The Blue Jackets have had moments.

8:18 - SABRES GOAL. Well, wouldn't you look at that. Buffalo capitalizes on another big rebound given up Sergei Bobrivsky. Jack Eichel made the initial play by passing the puck to Kyle Okposo in the slot, who took the initial shot. Benoit Pouliot outworked Zach Werenski to the post, and shoveled the puck into the net. 1-0 BUF.

4:28 - It looked like for a moment that Columbus had found their legs and were set to take the play to Buffalo. However, the blue and gold have done a nice job of creating turnovers and getting scoring chances out of it. Shots are 13-7 in favor of Buffalo, that is an accurate portrayal of the game so far.
